Greetings food lovers across the nation. I come here again with a few more places you might want to hit up while on your adventures around Seoul. In this post I’ll be covering a few places in and around Itaewon where you can pop in for a quick fix that won’t cost you an arm and a leg. We all know that prices around Itaewon can be on the expensive side these days. So here are a few alternatives or cheaper spots you can check out next time you’re in town.

Little Baja – Seafood tacos

If tacos are your thing, then this is definitely the spot for you. Little Baja is found on the back streets behind Itaewon’s main strip. The place has a nice little set up, a hole in the wall spot with a few seats to post up on; take out is okay too. Little Baja specializes in seafood tacos, and the word around town is these guys know what they’re doing and their tacos are FIRE! I can definitely testify to that; I’ve dropped by a few times.

On the menu they have fish, shrimp, and octopus tacos. The shrimp taco does it for me though. The crisp batter on the shrimp is light and not too heavy, and the pico de gallo is on point! They also serve up some Horchata (made in house), and they have a few beers on hand to wash down those tacos! The owners are super chilled, friendly, and offer up some solid food! Don’t sleep on these seafood tacos, head on over and check ‘em out!

Cali Kitchen – American Restaurant

There’s a lot of buzz around this restaurant. The owner and chef have been hosting small pop ups here and there serving some tasty burgers, Chipotle inspired food, and some bomb chili. I’m super glad to say that he has his own little spot down in Kyungridan, and he and his food are here to stay. The place is decent-sized, has interesting decor, and has an open kitchen, so you can see and smell everything that’s going down. The chef, Chuck, does his best to inform and entertain the customers with his knowledge of food and what he’s serving up.

The burger at Cali Kitchen is definitely a highlight amongst burger restaurants in the area. It’s tasty and full of flavor. It definitely has that reminiscent taste of In-N-Out Burger, but at the same time it has it’s own flavor twist. At 7,500 a pop you’ll definitely be satisfied. In addition to the burger, the superfries (carne asada with guacamole and house made salsa) are a winner. It’s food that’ll make you go mmmmmmmmm.

Cali Kitchen serves up some good beer and has other beverages available too. Keep an eye on their website for special offers; otherwise, head on over and check ‘em out. You won’t be disappointed.

Maddux Pizza

The new contender for best pizza in Seoul? I think so. At least that’s how I imagine it and what I think every time I munch on a pizza from Maddux. This place is off the beaten path but worth navigating the back streets of Itaewon to find. The place is small and simple but does that all right. They do pizza by the slice and whole. My favorite of the bunch had to be the spinach and artichoke pizza. The flavor was amazing, and the pizza slice was HUGE. The smell, oh the smell, it was heavenly. The pepperoni pizza is also a winner here. It’s packed with pepperoni from the front to the back.

The prices here are also easy on the pocket; They range from about 4,200 to 6,700. Seems a little on the pricey side but trust me, the size and taste alone makes it a good bang for your buck! They also have some beer on tap and a good range of sodas. So if you’re in the mood for a pizza of sorts check them out, or check the link below for more info on pizza options and prices.

Sugar Daddy – Dessert cafe

Done with lunch? Super full? But we all know we always have room for dessert, and this place doesn’t disappoint when it comes to desserts. Sugar Daddy recently moved to it’s new location not too far from where it was. Now it has a bigger seating space and is offering up some sweet sweet goodies to suit everyone’s taste buds.

My favorite at Sugar Daddy has to be the banana cake and ice cream. The cake is always moist with glazed bananas on top, and it’s served up with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. It’s usually my go to when I drop by, but sometimes I get the apple pie, another winner in the taste category. They do a bit of everything from muffins to pies and cakes to cookies. They even serve up some american cereal if you’re missing that taste from home. They also have teas, floats, beers, and ciders; there’s definitely something for everyone here. So head on over.
