Summer is in full swing in Korea and the town of Hapcheon in Gyeongsangnam-do is going to kick it off with the Hwangang Leisure Sports Festival. The The Hapcheon festival which runs from Saturday July 26th to Sunday July 27th will feature a 2km, 5km, and 10km marathon on the Sunday that takes place entirely in the shallow waters of the Hwangang river. Those looking to sign up for the marathon can do so from May 1st to July 10th. There will be cash prizes for the 1st through 5th place winners of each distance.

Besides the marathon there will also be a lot of other leisure activities put on by the city of Hapcheon such as a special eve’s entertainment show, a beach volleyball tournament,  a bare-hands no tools building competition, a waterpark experience, river rafting, as well as a special Hapcheon Hanwoo Beef tasting featuring some of the most tender beef in all of Korea.

The city of Hapcheon also invites its out of town attendees to visit the beautiful sights that the town of Hapcheon has to offer, such as the famous Haeinsa temple.
