Key Stations
Sunae Station
Suji-gu (수지구) is the northwesternmost district of Yongin and by far its most cosmopolitan. Built as a 1990s new town and continuously upgraded, it sits at the intersection of the Bundang Line (Sanggal, Bokjeong stations) and the Sinbundang Line (Dongcheon, Sunae stations), giving direct access to Bundang in 10 minutes and Gangnam in 35 minutes.
What makes Suji distinctive in Gyeonggi is its unusually high concentration of returning Korean-Americans and long-term Korean diaspora families (gyopos). This makes it one of the few areas outside central Seoul where English is genuinely functional for daily errands — grocery stores, banks, and restaurants are all more English-accessible than typical Gyeonggi. The hagwon market reflects this: Suji has a high density of premium English institutes competing for the bilingual-family market. Teacher salaries are above the Gyeonggi average.
Cost of Living
1-bedroom: 500,000–950,000 KRW/month. Premium for Gyeonggi but reasonable for the Seoul access and English-friendly environment. Meals: 8,000–13,000 KRW. Hagwon salaries 2.5–3.2M KRW/month.
Housing
Good mix of 1990s–2010s apartments and officetel near Sunae/Dongcheon stations. Somewhat competitive rental market due to demand from returning Korean-American families.
