Key Stations

Seocho Station

Seocho-gu (서초구) adjoins Gangnam-gu to the west and shares its affluence without quite matching its commercial intensity. The gu is defined by three zones: the legal/government district around Seoul Central District Court and the Supreme Court (서초동), the cultural complex anchored by Seoul Arts Center (예술의전당) and the National Gugak Center (방배동), and the large residential neighbourhoods of Banpo and Bangbae that draw professional families priced out of Gangnam.

For English teachers, Seocho offers a strong but quieter hagwon market than Daechi. The gu has the highest average household income in Seoul (slightly above even Gangnam-gu), meaning families invest heavily in private education. Banpo-dong and Bangbae-dong have solid hagwon clusters, good subway access (Lines 2, 4, 7, and 9), and an established but not overwhelming expat community. The pace of life is noticeably more relaxed than Gangnam station area.

Cost of Living

1-bedroom: 800,000–1,500,000 KRW/month. Banpo and Bangbae are slightly cheaper than Seocho-dong core. Meals: 10,000–16,000 KRW. Hagwon salaries 2.6–3.5M KRW/month.

Housing

Large apartment complexes dominate. Banpo Jugong and Bangbae complexes are famous residential landmarks. Good officetel stock near Seocho and Sadang stations.
