Teach English in Mokdong

Mokdong (목동) in Yangcheon-gu is, after Daechi-dong, the most significant private education district in South Korea. The planned Mokdong Apartment Complex (목동 신시가지) — 14 blocks of apartment buildings built in the mid-1980s — was specifically designed around schools, creating a high-density academic culture that attracted middle-class families dedicated to education. Today, the area around Mok-dong Station and Omokgyo Station has hundreds of academies and the second-highest private education spend per student outside of Gangnam.

For English teachers, Mokdong is often a better posting than Daechi: similar academic intensity and salary level, but slightly more manageable parent expectations and a more balanced neighbourhood character. SBS (Seoul Broadcasting System) headquarters anchors a small media and entertainment industry presence. Mokdong Lake Park (목동 호수공원), opened inside the apartment complex, provides a rare green lung in western Seoul. Seoul Metro Line 5 gives direct access to Gimpo Airport, the city centre, and Jamsil.
