Key Stations
Jamsil Station
Jamsil (잠실) in Songpa-gu is dominated by one of the world's most recognisable skylines: the Lotte World Tower (롯데월드타워), at 555 metres the 5th tallest building on Earth, rising above the mirrored Seokchon Lake (석촌호수). Alongside it: Lotte World Adventure (롯데월드 어드벤처) — one of the world's largest indoor theme parks — and the Olympic Stadium complex (1988 Seoul Olympics).
For English teachers, Jamsil is a high-demand placement area. Songpa-gu has a large, educated middle-class population with strong private education culture, competitive but not as intense as Daechi. The area around Jamsil Station (Lines 2 and 8), Jamsil Sports Complex Station, and Seokchon Station has a dense hagwon market. Proximity to COEX (one stop via Line 2) adds the international business convention crowd. The neighbourhood is well-connected, affordable compared to Gangnam, and has a genuine neighbourhood character — cherry blossoms at Seokchon Lake in spring are a true Seoul highlight.
Cost of Living
1-bedroom: 700,000–1,400,000 KRW/month. Slightly cheaper than Gangnam proper but premium for eastern Seoul. Meals: 9,000–16,000 KRW. Hagwon salaries 2.5–3.4M KRW/month.
Housing
Jamsil has a mix of 1980s Olympic-era apartments and newer builds. Newer complexes near Seokchon Lake command premium. Adjacent Bangi-dong and Garakdong are slightly cheaper.
