A Professional-Looking Photo
This photo will be used on the EPIK application that you fill out online. Leaving a good first impression is important, so try using a passport-style or professional photo, as you will need another photo later for the visa process. Using a passport-sized format is recommended so you can use one photo for all uses!

Obtain Two (2) Letters of Recommendation
Applicants must obtain and have ready two (2) letters of recommendation from professional or academic sources. Academic sources can include individuals such as past or current professors, supervisors, managers, etc.
One of the most important aspects of the letter of recommendation is that it contains an ink signature from the writer. LORs for this part of the stage just need to be scanned and submitted. You will not need to physically submit this by mail until after you pass your EPIK interview.
Enroll in a 120-hour TEFL Course
As of 2014, all public school programs now require teachers to be TEFL certified (unless they have a teaching certificate, PGCE, CELTA, or education major Bachelor’s). Being certified will also make you able to teach in any type of school in the future in South Korea, whether it be in the public sector or private sector. It’s better to be over-qualified than under-qualified!
