EPIK Application Process & Timeline (2026)
From application to your first day in a Korean classroom — here's every step of the EPIK process.
The EPIK application process takes approximately 3-5 monthsfrom initial application to arrival in Korea. Applying through Korvia (EPIK's exclusive partner) provides priority processing and dedicated support at every step. Fall 2026 applications opened February 1, 2026.
Step-by-Step Process
Apply Through Korvia
OngoingSubmit your application through Korvia, EPIK's exclusive recruiting partner. Korvia pre-screens your application and provides guidance on documents before forwarding to EPIK.
Document Preparation
2-8 weeksGather required documents: degree transcripts, TEFL certificate, passport copy, criminal background check (with apostille), reference letters, and passport-style photos.
Korvia Screening Interview
1 weekComplete an interview with a Korvia recruiter. This is a practice opportunity before the official EPIK interview and helps identify any application issues early.
EPIK Application Submission
2-4 weeksKorvia submits your complete application to EPIK/NIIED. Your application is reviewed by the education office of your preferred province.
EPIK Interview
30-45 minutesPhone or video interview with an EPIK coordinator. Questions cover teaching philosophy, adaptability, cultural awareness, and classroom scenarios.
Placement Notification
2-6 weeks after interviewEPIK notifies you of your province and school placement. Korvia helps you understand your placement and answers questions about your assigned region.
Visa Application (E-2)
2-4 weeksApply for an E-2 teaching visa at the Korean consulate in your home country. Required documents: visa issuance number, apostilled background check, degree, and contract.
Arrival & Orientation
1 weekArrive in Korea for the mandatory EPIK orientation (approximately 1 week). Orientation covers Korean culture, teaching methods, classroom management, and basic Korean language.
School Placement
Contract beginsTravel to your assigned school and move into your provided housing. Meet your co-teacher and begin the transition period before classes start.
