Korea's Southern Coast: Where Mountains Meet the Sea
Coastal cities, island life, and mountain towns
Gyeongnam covers Korea's southern coast from Geoje Island (Korea's 2nd largest island, home to major shipyards) to Jinju (famous for its lantern festival) and Changwon (the provincial capital). The region averages 2-3°C warmer than Seoul year-round, with milder winters and longer springs. Based on Korvia's teacher surveys, 89% of GOE teachers rate their work-life balance as 'excellent.'
GOE Locations›
Lower Cost of Living, Higher Savings
Furnished housing provided free of charge
Unlike Seoul-based programs that provide a housing allowance, GOE provides fully furnished apartments at no cost to the teacher. Combined with Gyeongnam's lower food and entertainment costs (roughly 30-40% less than Seoul), GOE teachers typically save a larger percentage of their salary despite slightly lower base pay.

GOE Through EPIK: How Placement Works
GOE teachers are recruited through the national EPIK program
Since recent reforms, GOE (Gyeongnam) teachers are selected through the EPIK application process administered by the National Institute for International Education (NIIED). Salary, benefits, and contract terms follow EPIK's standardized scale. Applicants can request Gyeongnam as their preferred province during the EPIK application. Korvia's exclusive EPIK partnership gives applicants the strongest chance of receiving their preferred GOE placement.
