Process FAQ
Q.How far in advance should I apply to GOE?
Apply 3-5 months before your target start date. GOE's two main intakes are March (spring) and September (fall). The criminal record apostille process alone takes 2-6 weeks and is the #1 cause of application delays, so start the moment you decide to apply.
Q.Do I apply through EPIK or directly to GOE?
Apply through Korvia, which handles GOE applications directly with the Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education. GOE is a separate hiring body from EPIK — you don't need to go through the EPIK portal, although requirements mirror EPIK closely.
Q.Can I request a specific Gyeongnam city?
You can indicate preferences on your application (urban like Changwon/Jinju, coastal like Geoje/Tongyeong, or rural counties). GOE considers your preference but final placement is determined by school demand and housing availability.
Q.What if I fail the GOE interview?
If GOE declines your application, Korvia can typically re-route you to another Korean program (EPIK, GEPIK, SMOE, or a private academy) depending on your profile. Many candidates who weren't a fit for GOE successfully place in other regions.
