GOE Contract Information (2026)
GOE contracts follow EPIK's nationally standardized terms.
Key Contract Terms
| Duration | One calendar year (365/366 days) from start date |
| Working Hours | 8 hours per day, 5 days per week (Monday-Friday). Weekends and Korean national holidays off. |
| Teaching Hours | Maximum 22 contact hours per week. Overtime requires additional compensation. |
| Class Duration | Elementary: 40 min | Middle: 45 min | High School: 50 min |
| Salary | ₩2,200,000 – ₩2,700,000/month depending on level (see GOE Salary Levels) |
| Housing | Furnished single-occupancy apartment provided free of charge |
| Health Insurance | National Health Insurance with 50% employer contribution |
| Severance Pay | Approximately one month's salary upon contract completion |
| Renewal | Possible with mutual agreement between teacher, school, and GOE education office |
| Renewal Bonus | ₩700,000 – ₩2,000,000 for teachers who renew for a second year |
| Early Termination | Entrance allowance (₩1.3-1.8M) must be repaid if leaving within first 6 months |
| Orientation | Mandatory EPIK orientation (approx. 1 week, unpaid). Lodging and meals provided. |
