Yeongtong-gu (영통구) is Suwon's easternmost district and its fastest-growing. Home to Ajou University (아주대학교) and Gyeonggi University campuses, the district has a youthful, academic energy. The Bundang Line runs through Yeongtong Station, connecting the district directly to Bundang in 30 minutes and to Wangsimni in central Seoul in under an hour.
For English teachers, Yeongtong offers a practical middle ground between Gwangyo's upscale premium and central Suwon's historic character. Rents are lower than Gwangyo while maintaining good transit access. The hagwon market around Yeongtong Station and near the universities is solid. Samsung Digital City (삼성 디지털 시티) — Samsung's largest R&D campus — is located in Yeongtong, bringing a layer of international tech industry workers to the community.
