Seoul positions are filled exclusively through EPIK— there is no direct SMOE application. Apply through Korvia (EPIK's exclusive partner) and select Seoul as your preferred province. Seoul is the most competitive placement, so apply early and have strong qualifications.
Application Timeline
Apply Through Korvia
Day 1Submit your application through Korvia with Seoul/SMOE as your preferred province. Korvia pre-screens and provides guidance.
Prepare Documents
2-8 weeksDegree, transcripts, TEFL certificate, apostilled background check, references, passport photos. Start early — apostille processing takes 2-6 weeks.
Korvia Interview
30 minScreening interview with your Korvia recruiter. Practice for the official EPIK interview and review your Seoul competitiveness.
EPIK Submission
2-4 weeksKorvia submits your application to EPIK with Seoul preference noted. SMOE reviews applications separately.
EPIK Interview
30-45 minOfficial phone/video interview. For Seoul, interview performance is particularly important due to competition.
Seoul Placement
2-6 weeksIf selected for Seoul, you receive your district and school assignment. Housing location is confirmed.
Visa & Travel
2-4 weeksApply for E-2 visa at your local Korean consulate. Book flights and prepare for Seoul.
Orientation & Start
Contract beginsAttend EPIK orientation (~1 week), move into your Seoul apartment, and begin teaching.
