The EPIK Spring 2027 application is now open on Jinhak. Check the one-application rule, agency review timing, recommendation letters, and the optional TOPIK score report.
Are EPIK Spring 2027 applications open?
Yes. The EPIK Spring 2027 online application is open. EPIK launched the current Jinhak application portal on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 9:00 AM Korea Standard Time. Agency applicants should contact their agency before creating an account or submitting.
Use the official Spring 2027 application portal to create or continue your application. The EPIK Application Info page has the preparation guide and current application instructions.
What changed after the portal opened?
- Application status: The Spring 2027 portal is live on Jinhak.
- Review order: EPIK says applications are processed in the order received.
- Agency path: Contact Korvia before creating an account or submitting if you want agency support.
- Agency review timing: EPIK told partners that it will begin reviewing agency submissions in September.
- One application: You may submit only one application per intake, whether direct or through an agency.
- TOPIK: The score report is optional and is used only for reference.
- Final documents: Many authenticated documents are submitted after a successful interview, but start time-sensitive preparation early.
Do you need a TOPIK score report?
No. Starting with Spring 2027, EPIK says interviewers will ask whether you have ever taken TOPIK, the Test of Proficiency in Korean administered by the National Institute for International Education. If you have taken it, EPIK will ask for a copy of your score report. The report is for reference only. It is not required, and submitting or not submitting it will not affect evaluation or selection.
You do not need to take TOPIK for the EPIK application. If you already have a score report, keep a copy ready in case it is requested after the interview question.
What should agency applicants expect next?
EPIK told official partners that agencies could register new Spring 2027 applicants starting on August 1, 2026, at 9:00 AM KST. EPIK will begin reviewing agency submissions in September. That is the agency review schedule, not a new public application deadline. Follow your Korvia recruiter's instructions for submission and review timing.
Your Spring 2027 application checklist
1. Choose your application path before creating an account
If you plan to apply through Korvia, register with Korvia and follow your recruiter's instructions first. EPIK explicitly tells agency applicants to contact their agency before account creation or submission. If you submit under the wrong path, do not assume you can delete the application and start again.
Register with Korvia or review the direct-versus-Korvia comparison before you decide.
2. Use an email address you will keep
Your application account is intake-specific. Use a personal email address that will remain accessible throughout the process; EPIK specifically advises against university email accounts because the address cannot be changed after account creation.
3. Prepare complete travel and school histories
List all time spent outside your country of primary citizenship, including vacations and short trips under one month. If you are currently in Korea and are not a Korean citizen, include your current stay. For school history, list elementary through high school in chronological order and follow the Spring 2027 guide when space is limited.
4. Finish the files required at the initial stage
- Professional photo: passport-like, shoulders up, facing forward, solid-color background, with the full face, head, and neck visible.
- Two recommendation letters: upload each as a PDF no larger than 10 MB; combine multi-page letters into one PDF per referee.
- Personal essays and lesson plan: complete the official prompts with original, specific work that represents you.
- Conditional files: current Korea contract dates, proof of English-medium education, or tattoo photos may be required depending on your circumstances.
Use Korvia's EPIK application documents guide for the full initial-versus-conditional breakdown, but let the current official Spring 2027 guide control if anything differs.
Spring 2027 recommendation-letter check
Recommendation letters are one of the easiest places to lose time. Before upload, confirm every item below:
- You have two letters from qualifying professional or academic sources, not friends, family members, or co-workers.
- Each letter is dated on or after August 1, 2024 for the Spring 2027 intake.
- The applicant's full legal first and last name appears as shown on the passport.
- The referee's name, title or position, and contact information are included.
- The relationship between referee and applicant, including its length, is clear.
- The letter is on official letterhead, or the referee's official business card is included when allowed.
- The letter is ideally one to two pages and addressed to "Whom It May Concern" or "The EPIK Team."
- A digital signature may be used for the initial upload, but original physical letters with real ink signatures are required after a successful interview.
For examples and formatting help, open Korvia's recommendation-letter guide.
Do not submit AI-generated essays or lesson plans
The Spring 2027 guide says personal essays and lesson plans are closely reviewed by Offices of Education and warns that plagiarized or AI-generated content may negatively affect an application. Low-effort applications will not be considered. Your written submission needs to reflect your own experience, teaching judgment, and voice.
Korvia can review structure, completeness, and clarity, but the ideas and final writing should remain yours. Use the EPIK lesson-plan guide to understand the format rather than copying a finished answer.
Should you submit as soon as possible?
Early submission matters, but a rushed, incomplete application is not the goal. EPIK says sections can be saved after you click the Proceed button, so the application does not need to be completed in one session. It also says missing required information will delay initial screening.
The practical rule is simple: be early and accurate. If your recommendations, histories, essay, or lesson plan still need work, save your progress and submit the strongest complete application you can rather than racing the clock with avoidable errors.
What happens after the initial application?
Direct applicants are notified if they are selected for an interview. EPIK told official partners that it will begin reviewing Spring 2027 agency submissions in September. Agency applicants should follow their recruiter's instructions. After a successful interview, the process moves to original recommendation letters and the final document package, including documents that require authentication or apostille.
See the complete EPIK application timeline and EPIK final-documents guide. Document validity rules vary, so confirm timing before ordering criminal record checks or other time-sensitive records.
