SMOE Final Documents
Candidates must submit a fully competed EPIK Application form, printed out, and signed with an ink pen. The EPIK Application form must also have the Sample Lesson Plan and Personal Essay attached.
Photocopy of BA Diploma (Apostilled)
An Apostilled photocopy of your 3-4 Bachelor’s Degree will be need to be submitted to EPIK with your final documents. For more information please visit the University Diploma Guide.
National Level Criminal Record Check (Apostilled)
An apostilled national-level criminal record check is required to apply to EPIK. It is recommended that after obtaining the CRC you photocopy it in case the Korean Consulate asks to see it when you apply for your visa. For more information please visit the Criminal Record Check Guide.
Two (2) Sets of SEALED University Transcripts
Two sets of your Official University Transcripts will be needed. The transcripts must include all the classes you took from the start of your university education until you graduated along with the grades received for each class. An overall GPA must be included in the report as well.The University Transcript sets must be SEALED and opening them will invalidate them from being accepted by EPIK. We recommend that you order at least 4 sets so that you may open one set to check that the above stated information is included. For more information please visit the University Transcripts Guide.
Photocopy of TEFL/TESOL/CELTA Certificate
Applicants will need to submit a photocopy of their completed TEFL/TESOL/CELTA course certificate. Applicants must also bring the original copy with them to Korea. Those who hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education will not be required to submit a TEFL certificate. For more information please visit the TEFL Certificate Guide or CELTA Certificate Guide.
Original Two (2) Letters of Recommendation
EPIK requires the original two signed letters of recommendation from academic professors or previous employers regarding your work ethic and abilities. For more information please visit the Letters of Recommendation Guide.
Two (2) Passport Sized Photos
Candidates must submit two Passport-sized Photos. One that is attached to their EPIK application as well as a 2nd photo for backup purposes. For more information about please visit the Passport Photo Guide.
Photocopy of Passport Info Page
Those applying to EPIK will need to submit a photocopy of your passport’s info page that includes your photo and background information. The passport will also need to be valid for at least the amount of time you will be in Korea. For more information please visit the Passport Info Page Guide.
SMOE Applicants will need to print, carefully look over, and sign the SMOE addendum. This form adds additional contractual agreements to the standard EPIK form.
SMOE candidates receive a copy of the contract early for them to sign and look over. Applicants then must include it in their primary documents package.
Some candidates might be eligible for other benefits as well as obligated to fill out other documents for their specific situation. For a complete list of additional documents please refer to the “SMOE Additional Documents” section.
Candidates must also print out and include the SMOE application attachment form that they completed during the application documents stage.
Smoking Sworn Declaration
Both smokers and non-smokers will need to fill out a sworn declaration form stating that they will not smoke on or around their school campus.
