Who is this Gangwon EPIK placement guide for?

How many passport photos should I bring?
Bring at least four Korea-standard passport photos and keep them in your carry-on. Your current GIEI message may specify how many are needed at the provincial handoff, so follow it if the number changes.
How much money should I bring for the first month?
GIEI instructs new teachers to bring enough cash to cover living costs because the first salary and settlement allowance do not arrive immediately. The exact amount depends on your personal budget and setup costs.
Why do I need my home-country tax identification number?
Korean banks or tax forms may ask for the tax identification number issued by your home country. Store the number securely before leaving home so you do not have to retrieve sensitive records after arrival.
Do I need a Korean phone number before arrival?
No, but you should have working mobile data through roaming, a prepaid SIM, or an eSIM. A long-term Korean phone plan may not be available until later in the Residence Card process.
Will GIEI arrange my Residence Card application?
GIEI may coordinate the Residence Card application as part of the Gangwon handoff for a particular intake, but this is not guaranteed for every teacher. Late visa details or a different arrival pathway may require a separate immigration visit. Follow the current GIEI message.
Should I use dates or fees shown in an older Gangwon guide?
