Role details, pay and benefits, photos of the center, life in Hwacheon and an FAQ are on the HEC program guide.

Your role: Assistant Homeroom Teacher
• Teach 22 hours of English classes a week to Grade 1–2 students, preparing materials and guiding each child's progress
• Support the Korean homeroom teacher in running the class: escorting children, snack time, tidying and classroom displays
• Use English with the children in every activity, so the center works as an English-speaking environment
• Join team meetings with homeroom teachers and the English specialist teacher, plus orientation and training
• Based at the center, Monday–Friday 10:00–18:00 (one-hour lunch break)

Pay and benefits (one-year contract, 1 March 2027 – 29 February 2028)
• 3,000,000 KRW per month to start for every new teacher, regardless of prior experience; pay rises with each consecutive renewal under the county's pay-grade table
• Furnished single housing, or a 600,000 KRW monthly housing allowance if agreed with the employer
• 300,000 KRW settlement allowance (repayable if the contract ends early)
• 1,500,000 KRW entrance allowance for teachers hired from overseas (repayable if the contract ends within six months) and a 1,500,000 KRW exit allowance for completing the contract (if you leave Korea within 10 days of its end)
• 20 working days of paid vacation, up to 7 paid sick days, Korean national holidays off
• Health insurance and national pension with the employer paying half, and severance after one year

How selection works
1. Submit the HEC application form and two letters of recommendation. Both are required; incomplete applications are not considered.
2. Optional but helpful: a short demo-lesson video or other teaching materials can strengthen your application.
3. Korvia screens complete applications, and candidates are selected for interview from them.
4. Interviews take place around mid-November 2026, mainly by video. If you can travel to Hwacheon, an in-person interview at the center is welcome and often leaves a stronger impression.
5. The final decision is made through the interview, followed by a reference check before any offer.
