GEPIK Eligibility Requirements (2026)

GEPIK follows EPIK's national eligibility standards. Here are the requirements to teach in Gyeonggi Province.

GEPIK eligibility requirements are identical to EPIK's national standards. Applicants must be citizens of one of 7 approved countries, hold a bachelor's degree, and have aTEFL/TESOL/CELTA certificate (unless exempt). GEPIK recruits through EPIK or directly through Korvia for experienced teachers.

Requirements

Nationality

Citizens of USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa.

Education

Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university in an approved country.

Schooling

Must have studied from at least 7th grade through university in an English-speaking country.

TEFL Certificate

Minimum 100 hours from an accredited program. Required unless you hold an education degree, teaching license, B.Ed., or M.Ed.

Background Check

Clean criminal background check from your home country, apostilled or authenticated.

Health

Good physical and mental health. Medical check completed in Korea after arrival.

Two Paths to GEPIK

Through EPIK

Apply through EPIK and request Gyeonggi as your preferred province. Standard EPIK eligibility applies. Best for first-time teachers.

Direct via Korvia

Experienced teachers can apply directly through Korvia for GEPIK positions. This path may offer faster placement for qualified candidates.
