Teach English in Jeonnam Province

Korea's most scenic province — Yeosu's harbor nights, Boseong's green tea fields, Damyang's bamboo groves, and 2,000+ islands off the country's most beautiful coastline.

Cost of Living

Low — great for savings

Key Stations

Yeosu-Expo Station

South Jeolla Province (전라남도) stretches along Korea's southwestern coast and encompasses more than 2,000 islands — the majority of Korea's total island count. The province is strikingly beautiful: azalea-covered hillsides in spring, golden reed fields in autumn, Boseong's terraced green tea plantations among the mountains, and the dramatic tidal flats (갯벌) of Suncheon Bay — a UNESCO Wetland Reserve and one of Asia's five major coastal wetlands.

Yeosu is the province's most visited city and one of Korea's great harbours: the 2012 Yeosu World Expo left a legacy of waterfront development, and the Yeosu Night Sea (여수 밤바다) has become a cultural shorthand for Korean romance thanks to the enormously popular ballad of the same name. Yeosu-Expo KTX makes the city accessible from Seoul in under 3 hours.

For EPIK teachers, Jeonnam offers Korea's lowest cost of living, deeply authentic provincial culture, and stunning natural environments. The trade-off is distance from Seoul (3–4 hours) and limited English infrastructure in rural placements.

Cost of Living

Korea's most affordable region. Studio in Yeosu/Mokpo: 150,000–320,000 KRW/month. EPIK housing provided. Meals: 5,000–8,000 KRW.

Housing

EPIK housing provided. Independent housing very affordable — one of the few regions where teachers can save significantly even on lower salaries.
