Gyeonggi-do is the province surrounding Seoul and the second-largest teaching market in Korea by placement volume. The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (GEPIK) manages public school recruitment across cities such as Suwon, Seongnam, Goyang, Bucheon, Hwaseong, and Yongin.
Public vs. Private
GEPIK runs spring (March) and fall (September) intakes. The province's suburban character means most hagwon openings are kindergarten-primary focused, often in apartment-district clusters. Songdo (Incheon-adjacent) and Pangyo draw international school placements. Commute times to central Seoul average 40–70 minutes by subway or KTX from the outer cities.
Practical Notes
Housing costs run 15–25% below Seoul. Many placements in Bundang, Ilsan, and Suwon provide standalone apartments. Gyeonggi contracts often include a higher monthly housing supplement than Seoul-based roles to compensate for location.
