Teaching at DUX Dongtan 1
Advanced essay writing and debate for high-achievers
DUX Academy (20+ years in Daechi-dong) specialises in advanced English through Five-Paragraph Essay, Summary Essay, and theme-based analysis. Students complete novel reading and initial essay drafts as homework; class time is devoted to teacher-led debates, CNN news discussions, and public speaking presentations. DUX runs 40+ class levels from elementary to advanced.
Teachers prepare debate topics, discussion guides, and essay feedback rubrics. Novel selections are assigned weekly; marking takes 2–4 hours/week. Strong written feedback cycle is central to the method.
After-school schedule: elementary writing groups from 2:30–5 PM, secondary debate and essay workshops until 7–9 PM. Saturday morning academic sessions common at the Daechi campus.
