COEIEI FAQ
Q.Where is COEIEI located and where would I live?
COEIEI is based in Gongju City, Chungcheongnam-do (Chungnam Province) — the former capital of the Baekje Kingdom. Gongju is a compact, walkable university town along the Geumgang River, about 30 minutes from Daejeon (Korea's 5th-largest city) and roughly 90 minutes by KTX/bus from Seoul.
Q.What will I actually teach at COEIEI?
You'll run immersive English programs in specialized learning spaces — the AI Lab, Super Store, Escape Room, and News Station. Duties include 1-day and 3-day English camps, the Traveling English Library (TEL), English club support for middle/high schools, vocational high school immersion, and teacher training sessions.
Q.How many students will I teach?
The institute serves about 750 students per semester through camps alone, plus 450+ students through English clubs, 180+ through vocational programs, and 340+ online learners. Class sizes vary by program — from small TEL groups (45–55) up to larger camp sessions.
Q.What are the basic requirements to apply?
You need to be a citizen of one of the 7 E-2 eligible countries, hold a 3–4 year bachelor's degree, and have a 100+ hour TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certification (or an education degree). A clean criminal background check and good health are also required — the same baseline as EPIK.
Q.How do I apply to COEIEI?
Apply directly through Korvia at korvia.com/apply — Korvia is the designated recruitment agency for COEIEI. You'll submit the application form, two letters of recommendation, and a professional photo. After document review, Korvia schedules your interview and manages placement in Gongju.
Q.Is this the same as EPIK?
No. COEIEI is a separate, specialized institute run by Chungnam Provincial Office of Education — not a public school placement. It focuses on camp-style, immersive programming in dedicated learning rooms rather than a single homeroom assignment. Many teachers come to COEIEI after EPIK for a more creative, project-based teaching experience.
