Visa Run to Japan / Hongkong / Thailand

   l       Korean Embassy in Tokyo

The Consulate is separate from the Korean Embassy, but if you make it to the Korean Embassy the guards there will give you a map.

The station is Azabu-juban, on the Oedo Line. Take exit #7 and cross the street at the crosswalk immediately outside that exit.  On the other side of the crosswalk, you will see the TomasBuilding.  Take the street on your left, parallel to the crosswalk you just took.  It is almost right in front of you, but just to the left.  Follow the road until it till it ends.  You should see the Kachi Dental Clinic.  (Although you will cross many alleys, you will only cross three crosswalks if you walk down the right side of the street.)  At the end of the street, turn left.  Go straight down on the right side, to the 8 lane road. Cross that road and take a right onto the opposite sidewalk. (After you cross, you will see a sign that shows the subway station being 150 meters to the left.)  Walk about 200m looking for the Korean consulate on your left.  It is the 5th building you will come to and is after the Olympic Inn.  If you get lost during this journey, simply get a taxi to the Olympic Inn, the Consulate is next door.

Notes on the Korean Consulate in Tokyo:

--They only take passports from 9a.m.-noon.

--They very inconveniently deliver the visas 50+ hours later, from 13:30-16:00+2 days.

--5400Y fee; you have to get a ticket from a machine next to the Information desk.

--Brink a passport sized photo.

1) From the Airport

Get on the subway
take it to the brown vase stop- Tojin Machi (9th stop from the airport) it's right after Ohori Koen ( a park ).
From Tojin Machi, leave by the first exit (1) it says Korean Consulate on it. Walk towards the traffic light after walking straight out of the exit. There turn right and go straight for about 10 minutes. You'll have to cross over to the other side of the street. The consulate has a Korean style roof and a Korean Flag. The area is really close to the Fukuoka Dome.> If you are not sure most of the buildings in the area have maps.

- CHANGE MONEY INTO JAPANESE YEN BEFORE YOU GO! It's not so easy to do so once you get there.

2) From the Ferry

Take a bus to Tenjin ( the 80 on the 84) but it should say Tenjin. then change buses, and take a bus to the Fukuoka dome.
If you though don't want to take a plane there is always the ferry from Pusan to Fukuoka. The ferry takes 14 hours and most of that is just time sitting waiting for the port to open in the morning. It leaves AT 6pm every second day. and arrives at 8AM. The return trip is the same. Many people get drunk on this boat and I hear there is also gambling available when you are in international waters. The last time I checked the cost was 65,000 Won. Sometimes the departure time changes so be sure to ask. The Hydrofoil takes about 3 hours and costs $85,000 Won it leaves at 12:15 from Pusan everyday and arrives at about 3. Make sure to get the return ticket in Pusan as the tickets in Fukuoka are much more expensive.
