My journey to become an ESL teacher in Korea began before I had even set foot on the plane. The required physical and mental preparation necessary for me to be ready to teach overseas was a daily challenge that was patiently assisted by my recruiter, Ann Park. Ann was exceptional during the process, not only because of the quality of her answers and responses to some of my burning questions, but also because of the strong-support system that she created for me. Ann provided me with invaluable information regarding settling in to the town I was going to work in. Ranging from food to travel to customs, Ann covered all major aspects of adjusting to Korean culture. Most importantly, Ann provided ample information regarding the teaching position that I was hired for. Details such as class curriculum and expected work environment were happily provided for me. Ann’s honest and uplifting demeanor helped make my transition to becoming an ESL teacher in Korea a very smooth one.
