How to obtain residency certificate for South African
You must obtain "Notification of Registration"
The SARS said South African citizen who stayed out of S.A more than 183 days or continually stayed more than 60 days, do not have to pay any income tax to South African government.
There are 2 different ways to apply about this to SARS.
1. People who already been enrolled at SARS as a citizen who pays income tax (who’s been working in S.A and paid S.African income tax)
- in South Africa: visit SARS and get the “certificate” which verifies you pay south African tax
- in Korea: Apply “Notification of registration” by on line. Please contact Laomie Knoetzen at LKnoetzen@sars.gov.za and request for “Notification of registration”
2. People who have never enrolled at SARS (who’s never been worked at S.A)
- They have to enroll SARS first, please find out attached form in this email and scan your
ID card and Bank Statement in South Africa and send them to it.wc@sars.gov.za
And ask about “residency certificate” after they are enrolling you at South African tax office.
