○ Period : February 23rd ~ March 2nd, 2012

○ Participants : SMOE-EPIK teachers

 

We would like to provide you EPIK orientation schedule here.

EPIK wants you to arrive in Korea on February 23rd, and there will run shuttles for free to drive you to the orientation site from Incheon international airport. 

You are on the team 3, and your orientation will take place at NIIED (EPIK HQ OFFICE) in SEOUL to February 23rd, Thursday (KST).

And you should take Pre-Orientation on line and complete it successfully before the orientation and bring the certificate printed-out to the orientation.

It is a mandatory course consisting of 17 different sessions, and each session takes up to 30 minutes.

-   What is Pre-Orientation ?
It is a program for foreign teachers who come to Korea to teach students from elementary to high school. You will learn helpful information before you start teaching.
 Even though you don’t have any background knowledge related to education, you can see how you have to teach your students.
More than that, you will also learn about Korean culture, customs, religion, education system and have a chance to learn basic Korean, “Han-Guel” from the alphabets.
This orientation will provide you interesting opportunities to get to know Korea.

- What should we learn?
1.Pedagogy
Developmental Psychology, Language Acquisition, Methods in Language Teaching, Classroom Management and Application
 

1.Korean Studies
Specific Characteristics of Koreans, A Guide for Korean Life, Characteristics of the Korean Education System, How to read Korean Alphabets and basic Korean.
 

- How to obtain ID and Password for this pre-orientation?
ID : Your E-mail address ( on the EPIK application which you submitted to EPIK )
PASSWORD: 0000 (four zeros) you can change your password after you log in. If you have not received the invitation from EPIK coordinator and did not receive your ID and Password, please contact EPIK orientation team at housejip@hotmail.com or newbj@sda.co.kr
Unfortunately Korvia Consulting has the limited access to this pre-orientation, so you should contact them directly regarding pre-orientation course.

Please do not book a flight for Korea yet since you should first make sure about your E2 visa after receiving your NOA and contract before purchasing a ticket.

FYI, F4 or F2 visa holders do not need to apply for an E2 visa to Korean consulate and enter Korea on F4 or F2 visa.
