May 28, 2011. The 1st International Paintball Tournament

The Korean Safari community has organized various cultural activities and leisure/sports outings for foreigners (English teachers, businessmen, international students) living in Korea. We are hosting the 1st International Survival Tournament with the aim of providing foreigners with an opportunity to enjoy a leisure/sports activity while at the same time energizing the foreigner community. 15 teams of around 150 people will go at it in a space that can accommodate a total of more than 500 people. Aside from the survival game, we will provide mountain bikes as well as barbeque and beers at rock bottom prices. The facility also provides for soccer, foot volleyball, and many other activities that attendees may enjoy.

Survival Game

A new form of war games known as “paintball games” began in the United States during the mid 70s and eventually found its way over to Europe and even Japan. Paintball games used spherical slugs measuring around 17mm in diameter and were made of edible paints. These paintballs would explode the moment it hits the body that not only showed clearly whether or not a combatant was hit, but also provided the tension and excitement of a real battle. Survival games provide an imaginary extreme situation through mock battles that resemble real ones, and they are a recent leisure sports activity that demands organized strategies and unity between members in order to survive.

Since 2010, many organizations and businesses have actively taken part in the game as a team building exercise as well as to foster leadership skills, and currently there are over 100 survival games societies in Korea.

-       Participating teams – 16 teams

-       Number of members for each team - 10

-       Game time – 20 minutes

-   players must obey the referee's call (there are 2 referees at the game)

From each team’s stronghold at either ends of the field, the teams will begin their attacks and defenses at a given signal. Game time is 20 minutes and will end once those 20 minutes are up. Victory and defeat will be determined by the number of combatants still in the game at the time of its conclusion.
Teams should divide their members carefully into attack and defense groups according to each team member’s characteristics. In particular, setting up detailed strategies is an important element for victory, and the first team to lose all its members in combat will be defeated.

Elimination rules

①    A player will be eliminated if a paintball hits the goggles (helmets) and anywhere on the body (except Hands, boots and for indirect shots )
