While each school and teacher will have their own unique experience, here is general idea of what to expect for your time spent at your school.
Your at school hours will generally be from around 8:30am to around 4 or 4:30pm, or often ending sooner than that. Public School teachers have only 22 actual teaching hours a week. The rest of your time at school should be spent in class preparation, lesson planning and coordinating with your co-teacher. You will also have ample "down time" so you won't feel rushed in between classes. Most schools have a large teachers lounge and preparation area where you will have access to computers and your own desk. Usually the teachers lounge have large sofas and chairs for the teachers to sit and relax and chat.
The school day at a South Korean Public School is quite similar to schools in the west. The students will gather in their homeroom with a homeroom teacher for their first class. From there the students will follow their daily scheduled lessons and classes. Most schools have a dedicated English language class where you will do most of your teaching. Lunch time generally falls in the middle of the day, where the general student body will eat together (always a fun time to get to know your students better) followed by afternoon classes and then the final bell somewhere between 3pm and 4:30pm depending on the day.
South Korean Public Schools will also have special days that are activity oriented such as a sports day, different festivals marking the holidays, and trips away from the school for special outings. On such days you will not be teaching your regular English classes but you are encouraged to take part in the special activities.
